Senior / Associate Civil Engineer Leeds Salary up to £75k plus car allowance Calibre Search are working on behalf of a global Engineering Consultancy who have recently won a significant amount of work as part of the AMP7 commission. Due to this increase in workload they are looking for a Senior or Associate Civil Engineer to join their Design Team and work on projects based principally in their Leeds office but with opportunities to work at their own and their Clients locations elsewhere in the UK and overseas. You will be able to work on a range of projects from those of strategic national importance such as Hinkley Point C, HS2 & multiple defence projects, development projects like South Teesworks Master-planning and Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Their expertise covers the full infrastructure life cycle, from feasibility, planning, investigation, design and supervision of new assets through to assessment, repair, modification and rehabilitation of existing assets. The ideal candidate would be a well-rounded Civil Engineer, technically competent across all core Civil Engineering disciplines, with exemplary communication skills and who has experience leading teams and delivering projects. This role would support projects in multiple sectors including transportation, energy, and defence. As an Associate Civil Engineer you will undertake and technically lead teams in Civil Engineering designs including Surface Water, Foul Water, Reinforced Concrete Structures, Utility Design, and Coordination. You will competently lead teams to deliver schemes on a large range of projects, from individual large-scale ‘Mega-projects’ through to multiple projects within frameworks, prepare briefs, scopes of work, and input into bid proposals and successfully manage time and budgets to key project milestones and programmes. You will also be expected to work closely with teams in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions and adhere to their quality assurance standards in design. They are looking for a Chartered Civil Engineer with strong experience track record and proficiency in designing at least one of the sub-fields of Civil Engineering with an excellent knowledge of the applicable codes and guidance of that sub-field (such as: Surface Water, Foul Water, Reinforced Concrete Structures, Utility Design, and Coordination). You will be experienced in design delivery, including coordinating with other disciplines in multidisciplinary design, have experience leading a design team as well as experience in business development and successful competitive tendering. This position would suit an Engineer with sound problem-solving skills and a pragmatic, practical mind that is able to take accountability and responsibility for work carried out by the individual or the team. You will work well with and form relationships with others, including the client team, other disciplines, and contractors at all levels (junior – senior) inside and outside the business and have experience working with and negotiating with key project stakeholders including regulatory, statutory, and local bodies. You will possess strong communication skills, independent working, presenting and influencing skills and be able to produce designs following CDM regulations A sound knowledge across a range of external works design, including utilities, paved and unpaved surfaces, earthworks, access and accessibility, construction logistics and familiarity with current UK design standards and working practices are key competencies for this role, as is a proficiency in designing within appropriate digital analysis packages, following local and national guidance. eg MicroDrainage, InfoWater, or InfoWorks for drainage. You will possess a robust understanding of contracts (principally NEC forms) and their administration and be competent with all aspects of change management and QA processes.
