We have the perfect role for you in Luton! We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and highly motivated PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities) SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team in Luton. The successful candidate will provide essential support to students with PMLD, helping them achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment through the Education and Training setting. Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant Location: Luton Sector: Education and Training Day rate: £85 – £95 Responsibilities of a SEMH Teaching Assistant: Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD). Assist in developing and implementing individual education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with teachers and other professionals. Support students with physical needs, including personal care, mobility, and feeding, while ensuring their dignity and safety. Foster a supportive and encouraging learning environment for all pupils. As a SEMH Teaching Assistant you will work closely with the SEN team to monitor progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly. Use specialist equipment and resources to engage students in learning activities. Collaborate with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student development. Requirements SEMH Teaching Assistant: Previous experience working with children or young people with PMLD in an educational setting. A caring, patient, and empathetic approach to working with students with complex needs. Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or other communication methods is highly desirable. Understanding of the SEN Code of Practice and safeguarding policies. Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning, SEN diploma, or equivalent).
