We are looking to appoint an outstanding English teacher with responsibility for leading English for Y7&8. Although this is a maternity cover, we will consider applicants who are looking for a permanent role. The English department is extremely well led and resourced and includes Media and EAL. We have a whole school DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) programme and effective reading interventions. English & Media are taught to KS5 and progress scores are very strong in both Language and Literature.

The successful applicant will:

• be an excellent and ambitious classroom teacher;

• have a proven and demonstrable track record of success at GCSE and A Level;

• have strong leadership skills;

• have a good understanding of the current educational developments, especially those relating to classroom based practice;

• have the highest expectations of students;

• have an enthusiastic and positive approach within and beyond the classroom;

• have energy, stamina and a sense of humour.
