The role An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Learning & Development Specialist with HR experience to join our People & Culture team on a fixed term basis (12 months) to cover maternity leave. Working in a team of 4, and reporting directly to the Director of People & Culture you will be responsible for: Identify Learning Needs: Collaborate with managers and employees to identify and assess skill gaps and align development initiatives with business objectives. Design and Deliver Training Programs: Create engaging, impactful training materials tailored to the needs of our workforce. Facilitate Workshops: Lead interactive sessions on soft skills, technical training, and leadership development. Support Onboarding: Enhance the onboarding process to ensure new hires are set up for success from day one. Evaluate Training Effectiveness: Monitor and report on the outcomes of L&D initiatives and training, using feedback and data to refine programs. People & Culture Collaboration: Work closely with the People & Culture team to integrate L&D strategies with talent management, performance appraisals, and succession planning. Knowledge Management: Create a system which enables knowledge sharing across teams and departments to maximise L&D outcomes. Stay Ahead of Trends: Keep abreast of industry best practices and emerging trends in L&D and HR to drive continuous improvement. HR Practices: Assist the wider People & Culture team by providing professional and effective HR advice across the employee lifecycle. Supporting Managers: Providing coaching and guidance on HR policies, processes and best practices. People & Culture Projects: Contribute to wider team projects, including diversity and inclusion, talent development, and wellbeing. About You As the ideal candidate, you will have experience of working in a professional services environment and have a strong influencing style with skills to build effective relationships. You will also have a good understanding of commercial drivers and be comfortable working in sometimes ambiguous environments or situations. Your skills and experience will include: Proven Learning & Development and HR experience, ideally in legal services or a corporate environment. Strong understanding of learning and development strategies, with practical experience in delivering and evaluating training programs. Coaching, mentoring and advising managers around policies and procedures. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders. A proactive, adaptable approach and a passion for supporting employees’ professional growth. Experience of managing end to end Employee Relations cases up to and including dismissal would be desirable. CIPD qualification (or working towards it) is desirable. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop one’s own L&D and HR experience for a regional leading law firm, working within a varied and exciting role.
