About the role
Paydock is seeking a Database Performance Engineer to join our remote global team. As a valued member of the team, you'll report directly to the Engineering Lead, and work closely within the Engineering team to deliver by ensuring optimal performance of our databases, supporting and auditing developer code for high performance on database activities, and architecting the best infrastructure for our database systems.
Responsibilities
- Database Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimise the performance of MongoDB and PostgreSQL databases. Implement best practices for database maintenance, including indexing, query optimization, and configuration tuning. Regularly assess database performance and scalability, and make proactive adjustments to support growing data demands.
- Developer Support and Code Review: Collaborate with the development team to ensure their code is optimised for database efficiency. Conduct regular code reviews and audits to ensure high-performance database interactions. Provide technical guidance and training to developers on best practices for database activities.
- Database Architecture and Infrastructure Design: Design and implement robust database architectures that support the organisation’s needs. Evaluate and integrate new database technologies and tools to enhance database functionality. Ensure database infrastructure is secure, reliable, and scalable.
Skills and Experience:
- Certification in MongoDB and/or PostgreSQL administration.
- Experience with cloud-based database solutions.
- Knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, and integrity.
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator with MongoDB and PostgreSQL.
- Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and best practices.
- Familiarity with programming languages like SQL, Python, Java or nodeJS.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
