We are currently supporting one of the UK's largest retail/hospitality businesses in their search for an Internal Communications Lead. This role is responsible for delivering the group internal communications plan, including leading strategic campaigns, such as the launch of the new strategy, delivering leadership group meetings and conferences, and regular activity including all-hands, weekly newsletters, comms and engagement. A core part of the role is creating compelling communications to drive internal engagement. It will support the company’s EVP, working closely with HR and other colleagues to determine through audience segmentation who receives which communication. The Internal Communications Lead will manage a small specialist team to inspire and engage the organisation through quality internal communications and campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and deliver the internal communications strategy in key areas such as leadership group meetings, event delivery, BAU activity, EVP, to build reasons to believe in the company to drive engagement.
  • Work with primary stakeholders to develop crisis and reactive communications strategies, to ensure the correct comms processes and messages are agreed to communicate to team members internally.
  • Ensure internal communications are aligned with operational communications.
  • Own the internal comms events programme, including the annual conference and leadership group meetings.
  • Produce period reports to evaluate progress of internal communications across the business.
  • Deliver internal messaging for company updates.
  • Constantly review and find innovative ways to reach team members.
  • Support the Exec Board and leadership group in facilitating engaging communications with their teams.
  • Provide regular insight into performance of internal comms channels, campaigns and events to ensure the business is engaging as possible, providing reasons to believe and pride in the company.

Key Requirements

  • Good at storytelling, creative and innovative.
  • Solid understanding of a range of communications disciplines.
  • Strong partnership and stakeholder management abilities, with expertise in influencing board level stakeholders and managing external agencies.
  • Strong networking and presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Insight-led in supporting the development of strategy to ensure that plans reflect the requirements of the audience.
  • Ability to deal with conflicting agendas and changing priorities.
  • An inspiring leader of people, values-led and a strong manager who prioritises the development of their team.
  • Experience in managing communications for confidential and significant business change programmes.
  • Able to manage tight deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Experience working in complex structures and able to manage across these.
