Temporary to Permanent opportunity based in Crick, Northants. £38k.

Our large friendly distribution client in Crick is seeking a proactive, forward-thinking individual to assist in overseeing the day-to-day operation of budgets and performance, customer relationships, compliance, and personnel issues relating to staff.

Main tasks:

  • Minimise cost to the business by fully utilising all resources within the team.
  • Monitor and update the in-house system ensuring delivery, cost, and performance information is up to date.
  • Actively work to reach targets and assist the Transport Manager if targets aren’t met.
  • Support the Transport Manager in ensuring that customer relationships are built on integrity and professionalism.
  • Deputise for the Transport Manager in their absence, attending conference calls, morning meetings, and acting as point of contact with the customer.
  • Complete daily risk assessments of the site.
  • Review processes regularly to ensure they are current and follow best practice.
  • Monitor the fleet servicing to ensure the depot complies with client servicing requirements.
  • Manage absence.
  • Deal with recruitment.
  • Training and development of staff.
  • Disciplinary/Grievance managing the process.
  • Deal with defective equipment and sort out repairs.
  • Keep their Intranet up to date.

Person Spec:

  • GCSE grade C or above in Maths and English.
  • At least 3 years experience with operations or planning within logistics.
  • Good working knowledge of WTD and drivers hours regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Sound IT skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Sound admin experience.
  • Proactive, positive attitude.
  • Able to multi-task and work to tight deadlines.
