About The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our multi-discipline medical team on a bank contract, allowing you to choose the hours you work to fit around your current commitments. As a highly valued member of our team, you will bring your expertise and skills in Gastroenterology and Endoscopic procedures to provide a high quality gastrointestinal service for the population of Portsmouth in a clean and modern Surgical Centre. As a Practice Plus Group Consultant you will have access to great facilities in a well-structured and relaxed environment. We offer high quality day case treatment in a wide range of specialties and deliver excellent clinical care. As part of our professional, friendly and compassionate team you will do everything you can to ensure the patient’s treatment is of the highest standard. Our focus at all times is on ensuring that our patients receive high quality treatment quickly, in clean and comfortable surroundings. We have two endoscopy rooms, one purpose built and one in an adapted operating room. The endoscopy service is run with both Olympus and Fujinon endoscope systems. In time consultants joining Practice Plus Group will be guided through the process to achieve accreditation with BUPA; applicants already with this accreditation are considered favourably and encouraged to highlight this in their application.
What you\’ll be doing
Reporting to the Surgical Centre Medical Director, you will manage and lead a multi-professional team and perform a range of Endoscopic procedures. In this role you will be required to deliver both gastroscopy and colonoscopy day case endoscopy services to referred NHS and private patients. The work will be carried out principally under local anaesthesia with or without sedation.
Please ensure that your CV used in applying includes details of what interested you in the role as well as describing relevant experience within the past 3 years i.e. number of cases performed and outcomes from national database (when relevant).
What we’ll look for in you
You will have full and specialist GMC registration as well as evidence of subspecialty training. In addition you will have experience of working in a specialist department treating upper and lower gastrointestinal conditions and the ability to offer an expert opinion on a range of problems in elective gastroenterology, drawing on substantial experience in the speciality.
