As they continue to grow their Major Highways team, they have an exciting opportunity for an experienced highways design professional / project manager/ design manager to support a strong and diverse pipeline of work including National Highways, Local Authority and Homes England framework projects. About the role As a design professional there will be responsibilities for instructing, supervising and checking design input from internal staff and external sub-consultants, as well as mentoring and supporting staff professional development and training specifically in aspects of highways design management and project management. Key responsibilities will include: Lead project design programmes, coordinating with project managers and multi-disciplined design leads and external consultants to ensure timely and successful delivery. Build and manage key relationships with clients and all other stakeholders, addressing challenges that arise in an effective and professional manner. Review all design outputs to ensure that they are fit for purpose, comply with CDM regulations and mitigate any liability risks. Drive compliance with client agreements and KPIs in order to achieve financial targets and ensuring profitability. About you Our client is looking for an enthusiastic and diligent individual who likes a challenge and is still willing to learn. You should have good communication skills, a collaborative approach and a proven ability to deliver work on time. You should be able to apply your experience and skills to project manage the production of design and engineering solutions whilst being flexible to adapt to and manage challenging and changing priorities. You should be a qualified professional with HNC/degree in Civil Engineering or similar related Construction qualification, with Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer (or near) status from ICE or CIHT preferred. Suitable candidates should ideally also be able to demonstrate: A broad highways design background with all round knowledge and experience of the design and project management of highways projects to the DMRB. A high level of demonstrable project and design management experience within collaborative design environments; Proficiency within 3D design and BIM design environments for project delivery/ ideally with National Highways project experience. Experience on larger projects of using design protocols and common data environments, project extranets and project management systems. Be capable of providing a point of call to assist in the instruction, supervision and mentoring of other team members on Highways Design management processes and procedures.
