A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Major Gifts / Major Donor / Philanthropy Senior Manager to take on this pivotal role within this global charity to further their work in the global community. The Head of Major Gifts / Philanthropy will lead in developing and delivering the charity’s Major Gifts strategy and pipeline within the UK and overseas as part of their strategy where fundraising from High Net Worth Individual donors and Philanthropists is essential. This role is all about relationships. The successful candidate will be developing and nurturing relationships to grow the pipeline, ensuring that key supporters are engaged with and support the charity’s ongoing work with 6 and 7 figure donations. This is an exciting role for someone to manage, grow and develop opportunities with existing and established as well as with new supporters and impact on the charity’s ambitious development strategy for growth!
Day-to-day responsibilities will include leading the team of Major Gifts, Trusts and Research colleagues, managing and growing a portfolio of donors in varying stages of the donor cycle, building compelling proposals aligned to the donor’s interests and matching funding needs within the organisation. You would look to further develop the breadth and depth of the current major gifts pipeline by building and expanding relationships utilising all means necessary including the engagement of the Trustees, the Executive, etc. You will develop donor development plans for top prospects, provide excellent customer service and stewardship to ensure exceptional and consistent cultivation and management for all major donors and prospective supporters. Reporting to the Director of Fundraising with whom personal targets will be agreed and delivered, typically your asks will be for 5, 6 and 7-figure single and multi-year gifts and will be making written and face-to-face asks, keeping supporters updated on the charity’s accomplishments and successes. As is usual with such roles there will be the need to work outside of regular office hours and travel occasionally within the UK and possible internationally as required.
Ideally you will be a degree and/or Professionally qualified within a relevant area, with a demonstrable track record of soliciting and closing 5, 6 and 7 figure gifts from Philanthropists, HNWI and UHNWI to achieve a high level of income and engagement, delivering against ambitious targets. You are able to communicate complex information to a lay audience and influencing multiple parties through written proposals, reports and presentations. You have good project management and experience in producing high quality, imaginative and compelling presentations, proposals, letters and pitches, an innovative, enthusiastic approach and the ability to develop new strategies in order to drive results. You are highly organised, self-motivated and equally at home working collaboratively or on solo missions with accountability for actions and decisions.
The role can be home or office based or a hybrid remote working / office-based with the ability to visit their office in the south of England / Thames Valley as required (could be as little as 1 day a week or 1-2 days a month dependent on circumstance – negotiable) and offers a salary up to £50,000 + a great benefits package (may be some flexibility).
