We are at an exciting time of growth and expansion and as such are looking for an experienced Head of Corporate ESG to join the Egis Architecture Line. The role is fundamental to our group’s ambitions for the future. As we aim to operate in a more sustainable and socially responsible manner, we require dedicated leaders who can develop and implement sustainable strategies while considering the impact on the environment, society, and corporate governance. This role plays a vital part in shaping our sustainability agenda, driving positive change, and ensuring long-term value creation.
Job Description
The Head of Corporate ESG is responsible for overseeing and implementing the sustainability and ESG strategies within the global practices of the Egis Architecture Line. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and execute initiatives that align with the company’s vision and values.
The key responsibilities include:
- Strategy Development: With the Principal for Sustainability Transformation as strategy lead, you will help develop and implement a comprehensive sustainability and ESG strategy that aligns with the organisation’s overall goals and objectives.
- Environmental Sustainability: Identify and manage environmental impact areas targets, such as carbon emissions, waste management, resource consumption, and renewable energy integration across the different practices and offices.
- Social Responsibility: Drive social initiatives related to diversity and inclusion, community engagement, employee well-being, human rights, and philanthropy in collaboration with HR.
- Corporate Governance: Establish and maintain robust governance frameworks, ethics policies, and accountability mechanisms to ensure compliance and responsible business practices.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including investors, customers, employees, and regulatory bodies, to promote transparency and address sustainability concerns.
- Reporting and Compliance: Oversee the preparation and publication of sustainability reports, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Risk Management: Assess potential sustainability risks, develop mitigation strategies, and monitor emerging trends and regulations in the sustainability and ESG landscape.
- Training plan: Help create engagement and momentum for the delivery of the Architecture Line’s sustainability training plan.
- Sustainability Champion Group: Help create engagement and momentum for the Architecture Line’s Sustainability Champion Group.
- Carbon Success Managers: Help create engagement and momentum for the Architecture Line’s Carbon Success Management group.
- ARB/RIBA compliance: Lead the organisation of CPD sessions to support the compliance of the architects with their ARB and RIBA mandatory training requirements. Assess regional needs for other industry bodies (such as the American Institute of Architects).
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in environmental science, social sciences, business administration, finance, law, architecture, or engineering.
- Previous experience in ESG management, corporate sustainability, responsible investing, or ESG research and analysis is highly valued.
- Strong understanding of sustainability principles, frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD), and industry best practices.
- In-depth knowledge of ESG metrics, reporting standards, and investor expectations.
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and interpretation to measure ESG performance and identify improvement areas.
- Ability to lead and manage sustainability projects, set objectives, allocate resources, and monitor progress.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and build partnerships.
- Familiarity with relevant sustainability and ESG regulations, guidelines, and reporting requirements.
- Capacity to develop long-term sustainability strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Ability to inspire and motivate teams, provide guidance, and drive a culture of sustainability within the organisation.
- Aptitude for identifying sustainability challenges, analyzing complex issues, and developing innovative solutions.
- Strong team player with excellent collaboration and consensus-building skills.
