A civil infrastructure engineering employee-owned trust consultancy is seeking a Civil Engineer with a background in engineering consultancy to join their established infrastructure team in London. The civils team comprises of 9 members, and the London office has a total of 30 employees.
Role Overview
The Civil Engineer will produce highways and drainage designs for various projects, including small/medium residential developments, large power station decommissions, S278 highway schemes, crossovers, and large roundabout/access works. The clients span both private and public sectors. The role involves technical design & delivery and managing junior staffβs work.
Key Responsibilities
- Design Work: Produce highways and drainage designs for both public highway and on-site projects.
- Project Management: Manage small/medium residential developments, large power station decommissions, and various highway schemes.
- Staff Supervision: Oversee and guide junior staff, ensuring quality and timely delivery of their work.
- Client Interaction: Work with both private and public sector clients, understanding and meeting their requirements.
Requirements
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience working in a UK consultancy on highway and drainage design schemes.
- Software Proficiency: Skilled in using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Site3D, and Infodrainage.
- Technical Knowledge: Practical knowledge of relevant highway and drainage design standards, guidelines, and processes.
- Chartership: Chartered or working towards being chartered is preferred, but not essential.
- Civil Engineering Design: Technical experience in preliminary and detailed design of levels, drainage, and external works.
- Highway Design: Experience with Section 278/38 Highway Designs, and highway designs compliant with DMRB and Local Authority guidelines.
- Residential and Commercial Design: Proficient in designing residential estate roads and commercial/industrial access.
- Ground Modelling: Experience in ground modelling, earthworks design, geotechnical and environmental appraisal.
- Drainage Design: Expertise in pavement designs, flood risk assessments, sustainable urban drainage strategies, foul and storm water drainage, and detailed drainage designs.
- Agreements: Knowledge of Section 106/104 agreements.
