This is an exceptional opportunity for a highly experienced Procurement Leader to head up the procurement function of this exciting manufacturing base, located in Leeds. Reporting to the Executive board your duties will involve full management of products, services and suppliers as well as the category management team.

Purpose of the job

Planning, executing, and finalising purchasing and procurement strategies for spend across the organisation. This includes acquiring resources within budget and facilitating communication between its providers in order to deliver products and services according to plan.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Accountability for target achievement of core operational KPI set.
  • Ensure full compliance to all relevant departmental management procedures including cross functional ones.
  • Management of policies and procedure regarding the purchase of goods and services, adhering to finance department procedures and standards of purchasing.
  • Researching of product market information in relation to factored items, raw materials and services in order to develop relationships with appropriate suppliers and have knowledge of current lead times.
  • Expediting order requirements with suppliers to ensure that supply meets client requirements and that vendor or shipment problems are dealt with.
  • Progressing on time delivery of procured items with suppliers.
  • Management of key supplier relationships for factored items, raw materials and services, introducing KPI’s where appropriate.
  • Liaison with operational and quality control personnel to ensure purchasing requirements support overall company objectives at pre-award stage of procurement process.
  • Liaison with commercial, tendering, scheduling and production departments at pre-order stage to ensure that purchasing requirements are in line with client expectations and meet project milestones.
  • Drive the team of buyers to ensure all suppliers deliver components & equipment in alignment with the RFC and agreed client delivery dates.

Qualifications

  • Ideally a Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, logistics, Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant experience within related industry Castings and raw materials procurement within a related industry.
  • Experience of supplier management and negotiation of agreements.
  • Staff management experience.
  • Budget management.
  • Procurement management.
  • Excellent IT & software skills.
  • 1st Class communication skills.
