Key Responsibilities:

Cross-Border Tax Facilitation:

  1. Oversee the preparation and facilitation of filing tax returns for international jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with local tax laws, Duties, VAT/GST, sales tax, and other applicable taxes.
  2. Assist e-commerce brands in registering for VAT, Duties, GST, sales tax, and other local taxes in the countries where they operate, ensuring compliance with local tax laws.
  3. Support in the implementation of automated systems and/or software to accurately calculate and collect taxes on cross-border transactions, including VAT/GST and sales tax based on the customer’s location.
  4. Ensure the timely remittance of collected taxes to local tax authorities, ensuring all filings and payments are made in compliance with deadlines and regulations.

Tax-Related Business Planning and Support:

  1. Collaborate with internal teams (finance, legal, business operations) to structure cross-border transactions in a tax-efficient manner.
  2. Stay updated on changing tax regulations across jurisdictions and ensure the business adapts its processes for new compliance requirements related to cross-border transactions.

Process Improvement and Technology Integration:

  1. Drive the use of technology, automation, and tax software to streamline cross-border tax reporting and compliance processes.
  2. Propose and implement process improvements to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of tax functions across borders.
  3. Stay up-to-date on global tax and duty trends, advising the company on potential opportunities and/or risks.

Relationship Development and Management:

  1. Identify and foster relationships with leading tax partners and facilitators in different jurisdictions.
  2. Support in the registration and ongoing management of taxes in multiple jurisdictions.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business management, operations, finance, or related field, or equivalent experience working with cross-border tax facilitation and compliance for e-commerce.

Experience:

  1. 5+ years of experience in e-commerce/working with e-commerce software, with a focus on international tax and cross-border e-commerce transactions.
  2. Experience managing cross-border tax coordination within the e-commerce or technology sectors.
  3. Familiarity with international tax treaties, VAT/GST, and sales tax regulations.

Skills and Competencies:

  1. Excellent communication skills with the ability to present tax-related information to senior management and cross-functional teams.
  2. Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  3. Proficiency in tax software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in e-commerce and/or fast-paced startup environment.
  2. Experience working with tax software for multiple jurisdictions.
  3. Advanced knowledge of VAT/GST, duties, and other international tax issues related to digital and online commerce.
