Associate General Counsel

Are you Birmingham based and looking for a step-up in your career? I am currently working with a high-growth technology organisation on the lookout for an Assistant General Counsel. You will be running the legal team for this business, which has recently been acquired by another very successful listed organisation. You will have ample support from the wider company, but also full autonomy to make the role your own.

You will hold entire responsibility for the delivery of legal matters for the business and report to the General Counsel - EMEA, for the parent company. This individual has worked for the organisation 10+ years and can give you excellent insight into how they work and assist with implementing processes. You will also have a dotted line and work very closely with the CEO.

The role will be of a generalist nature, working on all matters excluding data protection. You will play an important role in compliance and governance activities, and you will be the main legal point of contact for the EMEA. The position will be predominantly focused on the UK and US initially, as these are the major markets the company currently operates in, but they are looking to expand into other markets very quickly.

The role will be of a progressive nature and requires an individual who can build relationships internally and externally, as well as influence within a board meeting. You will need to be comfortable liaising with external counsel and working autonomously.

You will ideally be 5 PQE+ (guideline only) with experience working in an in-house environment. The role will hold a high level of responsibility for the business (with support), so you will need to feel comfortable stepping up or already be in a similar position. Experience reviewing, negotiating, and drafting agreements, particularly SaaS, is required for this role, as well as an ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

The salary on offer for the position is £85,000-100,000 + pension and car allowance + MIP bonus. This is due to the start-up nature of the company and will change over time. The role offers a hybrid working policy (2-3 days in the office) and is renowned for being a fantastic place to work.
