Our client is seeking a dedicated Caretaker to join their team on a permanent basis. The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working in a caretaker, facilities maintenance, ground maintenance or property maintenance environment. The role will consist of maintaining communal areas, including grounds maintenance work and carrying out small maintenance repairs, as well as having an awareness of health and safety (H&S) and security issues.
Hours: 7.30am-2.30pm, 30 hours per week
Salary: £20,000-£24,000 pa based on a 30 hour week
Candidates will need to have a full UK driving licence and own vehicle including business insurance for potential visits to the Oxford site. Mileage will be paid for trips during working hours.
Key responsibilities:
- Building and grounds maintenance, including small repairs and general upkeep
- Ability to repair basic building/maintenance tasks
- A proactive, reliable and friendly attitude
- Good awareness of building security and health and safety issues, which will include fire alarm testing etc.
- Meeting room set-up for training sessions and team events, tidying up after meetings, emptying bins, and dishwashers
- Keeping the grounds tidy and managing small gardening duties
- Liaising with contractors on site
- Receiving and distribution of packages
- Occasional travel to Oxford to deliver or collect office equipment
Person specification:
- Previous experience of working in a caretaker, facilities maintenance, ground maintenance or property maintenance environment
- H&S experience/training advantageous
- An awareness of building security issues
- Good level of IT to manage emails, input information onto spreadsheets and liaise with other departments within the business
