The Fleet and Operations Support Controller plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient running of daily fleet operations. Acting as a central point of coordination between drivers, fleet management, and operations teams, the role is focused on maintaining service reliability, operational compliance, and effective communication. By supporting the planning, monitoring, and administrative aspects of fleet activities, the role helps to optimise performance, minimise disruption, and uphold high standards across all areas of fleet and operational delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and monitor fleet operations, ensuring timely deliveries and optimal use of resources.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations, Company policies, and health and safety standards.
- Manage vehicle maintenance schedules, ensuring all vehicles are in safe working condition.
- Liaise with drivers, supervisors, and management to resolve operational issues and ensure smooth fleet operations.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle movements, driver logs, and any incidents or accidents.
- Maintain up-to-date records of vehicle documents, including insurance, MOT certificates, and road tax, ensuring all vehicles comply with legal and company requirements.
- Oversee the identification and resolution of vehicle defects, ensuring any necessary repairs are completed promptly to avoid delays or disruptions.
- Answer inbound driver calls, addressing inquiries, providing updates, and resolving issues related to daily operations, routes, and schedules.
- Assist drivers in troubleshooting problems, such as delays, vehicle issues, or scheduling conflicts, ensuring prompt resolution to minimise disruptions to operations.
- Communicate effectively with Drivers, Fleet Controllers, and other teams to ensure information is shared promptly and accurately.
- Provide administrative support, including logging and tracking driver performance, incidents, and any follow-up actions needed.
- Support the operations team in various tasks such as data entry, generating reports, and preparing communication materials for drivers.
