We’re looking for an experienced National Account Manager (NAM) to take over a well-established portfolio within our award-winning DIY team at Westland Horticulture. With a strong track record of success, ambitious growth plans, and a focus on innovation, sustainability, and brand leadership, this role offers a fantastic platform to make an immediate impact in a high-performing channel.
Reporting to the Head of Channel – DIY, you’ll inherit responsibility for key UK national accounts and play a pivotal role in delivering sustainable, profitable growth. You’ll drive strategic planning, lead commercial negotiations, and contribute to the ongoing success of a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Achieve and exceed sales volume and margin targets across garden categories
- Build and develop strong relationships with national retail partners
- Negotiate high-impact commercial terms that support growth across all channels
- Maximise shelf presence, merchandising impact, and retail execution
- Lead joint business plans and drive best practice in customer management
- Support product development initiatives in partnership with Sales, Design, and Marketing teams
- Deliver accurate forecasts and report against budgeted KPIs
- Act as a key voice in brand development, category growth, and NPD strategy
- Lead and coach Junior NAMs/Account Executives within the team
- Contribute to the roll-out of new ERP, ecommerce, and digital tools to support channel performance
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure successful launches and continuous improvement in route-to-market activities
Experience / Capability Criteria:
- A proven track record of success in a National Account Management role within the DIY, Hardware or Tools sector – minimum 3-5 years
- Extensive FMCG experience with branded product exposure
- Strong commercial acumen and a deep understanding of P&L management
- Demonstrable experience of driving significant sales growth across multiple channels
- Strategic thinking combined with hands-on operational know-how
- The ability to motivate, lead and develop junior sales team members
- Experience with trade marketing, product development, and bringing products to market
- Confidence working cross-functionally with marketing, technical, and operational teams
- A passion for innovation, customer excellence, and results
