Temporary position with the potential for permanent opportunities. Β£25,396 Knaresborough, 28 days leave, 8.00am-16.30pm Monday - Friday, training, parking, hybrid working options.

Due to increased business and workload, our client is looking to recruit a geospatial processor. This is initially a temporary position for 6 months with the potential to go permanent. We currently have two positions available, one in the remote sensing team and one in the classification team.

This geospatial processor role is an entry level position that will offer you full training and development with the potential to progress onto the next tier within 18 months. If you have a keen interest in geography, environmental science, sustainability, engineering or mapping, then this could be the starting block for your career.

Duties will include:

  • Mapping
  • Classification
  • Spatial Modelling
  • Asset Record workflows

Responsibilities include:

  • Process large sets of raw data captured by the field-based team
  • Produce geospatial datasets
  • Transform datasets according to project requirements
  • Generate and compile metadata using existing templates
  • Reclassify data into a usable format
  • Import data into PLS-CAD ready for modelling
  • Process and present images according to clients' specifications
  • Produce topographic maps from LiDAR
  • Carry out quality checks on all data produced

This geospatial processor role is ideally suited to someone with a background or qualification in geography, geology, environmental science or similar. We are also looking for people with an understanding of or experience using GIS, LiDAR, PLS, CAD, MicroStation.

This is an entry level role and all training will be provided, although you must be able to problem solve and have a good eye for detail.

Requirements:

  • Good A-Level or equivalent and GCSE qualifications
  • A good work ethic, keen to learn and develop
  • A keen eye for detail and ability to handle and manipulate large sets of data
  • An aptitude for working with spatial datasets and software packages is preferred
  • Degree level qualifications in environmental science, geography or geology are a good match
  • Familiarity with common coordinate systems
  • Working knowledge of any of the following software packages: Microstation, TerraSolid suite, PLS CADD, Global Mapper and Arc GIS, Excel
  • Awareness of the common sensors (aerial LiDAR and imaging systems)
