Fire Safe Services is expanding, and we’re searching for a skilled Fire & Security Systems Commissioning Engineer to join our projects team, covering the Midlands and surrounding areas. You’ll be responsible for testing, programming, and commissioning a range of fire alarm, intruder, CCTV, access control, and life safety systems across commercial, industrial, and public sector sites. From hands-on system configuration to working closely with clients and contractors during project handovers, your role will be vital in ensuring safety, compliance, and quality on every job.

Here’s a look at some of the things you’ll be doing:

  • Commissioning fire detection, intruder, CCTV, access control and life safety systems including aspirating and emergency lighting to meet relevant standards and client requirements.
  • Carrying out system programming, cause and effect testing and resolving faults to ensure full operational compliance before handover to the client.
  • Supporting installation teams to ensure systems are properly prepared for commissioning with all technical documentation completed to a high standard.
  • Liaising with clients, consultants and contractors on-site while producing certificates and providing system training and demonstrations where required.

Can you show experience in some of these areas?

  • Proven experience commissioning fire and security systems with strong knowledge of brands like Gent, Hikvision, Paxton, Texecom, Advanced, Kentec, Morley and more.
  • Understanding of British Standards such as BS5839-1, BS7671, BS5266 and PD6662 with the ability to test and document accordingly.
  • Excellent diagnostic and fault-finding skills alongside strong communication and client relationship abilities.
  • Familiarity with technical drawings and cause and effect documents plus ECS/CSCS or FIA/SSAIB/NACOSS training.
