Location: Southern Region / South of the M4 Corridor

The Chief has the full responsibility in the Rigging team to deliver preventative maintenance across a wide range of structures. You are the Senior Rigger in the team and you have full responsibility for the resources working with you on site.

Role Requirements:

  • Creation of planned work documents to ensure work is undertaken on time and in a safe manner.
  • Creating Risk assessments and method statements, ensuring these are approved by relevant stakeholders.
  • Acts in a supervisory capacity to oversee all safety aspects of work carried out on site.
  • Point of Contact for safety and all rigging works in their Region.
  • Supports the Rigging Project Manager and Airwork’s Manager.
  • Ensure all Rigging equipment is kept operational, and any required maintenance is kept up to date.
  • Responsible for the ongoing Technical/ personal development of the Rigging team in their Region.
  • Creates / supports an environment to encourage both multi/cross skilling of other Field Ops activities both in and out of your team.
  • Looks for ways to improve and drives a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Provide specialist advice and guidance to other teams and contribute to project delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation and reporting of actions taken.
  • Generate maximum team efficiency through delivering bundled activities within skillset.
  • Complete preventative and corrective maintenance to the mast and tower infrastructure.
  • Install, operate, dissemble winch systems to support work on tall structures up to 300m tall.
  • Provide response to faults and technical issues, including emergency call out, to assist the Antenna Systems Engineers to provide corrective maintenance.
  • Complete support structure inspections and provide documented reports on findings.
  • Provide supervision to 3rd parties requiring access to specific Arqiva sites such as high-power UHF and MF sites.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • This role will have the responsibility for delivering all planned preventative maintenance on our top 100 sites. The Chief will be responsible for the sites in your area, but on occasions you might need to go out with your area to deliver Planned Preventative Maintenance and Project work.
  • You will work closely with the structural engineer responsible for the structures in your area to ensure all works are conducted in a safe manner maintaining structural integrity.
  • Be responsible for the delivery of the defect corrections and repairs while carrying out the engineer inspections.
  • Be responsible for requesting complex planned works to carry out engineer inspections.
  • Be responsible for creating site specific RAMS.
  • Be able to categorise faults on the structure and the associated risks.
  • Be able to carry out detailed reports including sketches.

Required Expertise:

  • Extensive knowledge of Safety, Health and Environment legislation, standards and practices.
  • Extensive knowledge of mast and tower maintenance procedures, technical processes, standards and engineering practices related to area of expertise.
  • Experience working with 3rd party contractors – ensuring work is completed to the standards and specifications required.
  • Experience of working at height.
