Job overview The Trust is seeking a locum consultant psychiatrist for the Adult In-patient Eating Disorders Ward, Avalon Ward, Springfield University Hospital. This is an established post. The vacancy has arisen as a result of the current postholder re-locating. This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic and dynamic consultant psychiatrist to join this well-established in-patient eating disorders unit, with a well-functioning MDT and good national and international reputation. Main duties of the job The Adult Eating Disorder services comprise of the following: inpatient unit – Avalon ward, outpatient service and day unit. Avalon Ward is an 18-bed unit providing care for local and national patients with eating disorders requiring inpatient treatment. Detailed job description and main responsibilities The appointed consultant will provide overall clinical responsibility for the inpatient assessment, care and treatment of adults on Avalon ward. The post holder will need to support effective team functioning and will also be required to work with a part-time Consultant colleague and the team in service development initiatives. Person specification QUALIFICATIONS: Primary Medical degree Full GMC registration MRCPsych, or equivalent General Adult Psychiatry or eligible for such inclusion on the Specialist Registrar Section 12 (2) approval of the Mental Health Act Talking therapy such as CBT, DBT or MBT Management and service development skills KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE: Completed minimum of three years full-time training in approved higher psychiatric training scheme A detailed knowledge of main treatment approaches for severe mental illness Knowledge and experience of the CPA process, risk assessment and risk management Experience of teaching medical and non-medical staff Previous experience of managing patients with Eating Disorders.
