About Belfast Buildings Trust

BBT is a charity that delivers physical, social, and economic regeneration by using and reusing what makes Belfast special. Through capital projects, public engagement, policy development, and mentoring, we empower people and help to revitalise neighbourhoods. Our work goes beyond bricks and mortar – it connects people with their city, drives creative growth, and fosters civic pride.

Priority Skills

  • Financial Investment / Business Development: Including social finance or commercial partnerships, perhaps with experience in property or regeneration projects. We are seeking individuals who can guide sustainable investment strategies and enhance BBT’s financial resilience.
  • Property Development: Including urban regeneration and real estate, with a desire to support work that delivers community-focused outcomes. We are looking for individuals who can offer strategic oversight on project feasibility and commercial potential.
  • Audience Development: Including inclusive marketing, public programming, or community engagement. We are keen to involve people who can help us expand our reach and deepen public connections.
  • Architecture / Project Management: Particularly relating to adaptive reuse, conservation, or construction services. We are seeking individuals who can help guide technical oversight on building projects, ensuring quality and impact.

BBT values diverse backgrounds and experiences, and we actively encourage applications from people who will bring fresh perspectives to our work.

The Role

As a Trustee, you will play a vital role in:

  • Strategic Oversight: Shaping BBT’s future and ensuring sustainable, high-impact outcomes.
  • Financial and Operational Governance: Supporting accountability across financial strategies and project delivery.
  • Project Support: Providing additional project delivery support to the staff team, aligned with your skills and experience.
  • Advocacy and Influence: Leveraging your networks to promote regeneration that prioritises using and reusing what makes Belfast unique.
