This role offers a diverse and stimulating workload, professional development opportunities, and flexibility in how and where you work. You will be responsible for the design of safe and compliant earthing systems for a wide range of infrastructure projects, including:

The role involves detailed design work using industry-leading software, interfacing with internal teams (Electrical, Protection, Civil, EHV) and external stakeholders such as DNOs, TNOs, and contractors. While primarily an office or home-based position, occasional flexibility to support site operations would be advantageous, though not essential.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead or support earthing system design projects from tender through to commissioning
- Review and approve internal and external earthing designs in accordance with relevant UK regulations and DNO policies
- Collaborate closely with electrical and multi-utility teams to ensure integrated, cost-effective solutions

Requirements:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical background
- Expert user of CDEGS software (MALZ, HIFREQ, SPLITS, TRALIN)
- Strong working knowledge of UK earthing standards, regulations, and DNO design policies
- Proficient in AutoCAD
- Earthing system commissioning and compliance surveys
- Experience in lightning risk assessments and lightning protection design
- Exposure to AC and DC interference analysis
Flexible working options – including fully remote, hybrid or office-based depending on your preference.
Benefits include:
- Extensive training and professional development support, including access to in-house learning platforms and peer-learning forums
- 25 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays, with the ability to buy/sell up to 5 extra days
- Additional 5 days’ holiday awarded with length of service
- Discretionary company bonus scheme
- Enhanced pension contributions, up to 8% matched
- Private medical insurance
- Life assurance
- Employee assistance programme & wellbeing portal
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing and forward-thinking organisation where your work has real impact. Whether you’re an experienced engineer ready to lead or someone looking to step up and grow, your skills will be valued, and your career will be supported.
