We are currently supporting one of the UK's largest retail/hospitality businesses in their search for a Senior Manager - Internal Communications. This is a strategic communications role, drawing on employee insight to define the channels which should be managed by the central communications team and how they align to the communications channels and plans managed in the business' divisions and functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop the internal communication channel strategy to ensure the business has the right channels, addressing the right audiences within their new organisation design.
- Lead the development of the existing digital communication channels within an umbrella strategy, guiding the development of each platform.
- Take direct ownership for the employee app and intranet and create a strategy to drive engagement with each.
- Create a plan of campaigns to maintain engagement throughout the year.
- Create a plan to create engaging content for all channels, drafting material for the exec board and other senior stakeholders.
- Operate a news service to the division and functions.
- Ensure the highest editorial standards in all communication channels.
- Advise communication managers on approaches to coaching and influencing senior leaders.
- Track the effectiveness of all internal communication channels and recommend improvements.
- Develop a tone of voice which is right for each channel and advise communicators on how and when to adopt it.
Key Requirements
- Ability to manage complex data and develop simple and easy-to-understand messages.
- Exemplary writing skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to adapt messaging according to the audience.
- Keen eye and attention to detail.
- Excellent digital skills and knowledge including intranet platforms.
- Experience of advising and coaching senior leaders when required.
- Strong influencing skills and ability to present sensitively to audiences at all levels of the organisations.
- Good at storytelling, creative and innovative.
- Proven planning skills and the ability to deliver projects within inter-departmental teams.
- Ability to manage senior stakeholders.
- 5+ years of internal communication experience in a national organisation.
