As part of Nationwide’s exciting and growing team of Cloud Platform engineers, you’ll have a SRE (Site Reliability Engineer) mindset with the ability to act like a Developer and think like a Systems Operator. As part of the Cloud Engineering team, we are looking for talented people to help us achieve our goals.

For this job you’ll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you’ll spend 40% of your working time, at either our Swindon or London office.
Take the charge in building and managing scalable, self-healing, globally distributed cloud platforms. Drive efficiency, automation, and cost reduction by automating manual and repetitive tasks. Identify and escalate dependencies, risks and exceptions that will affect implementation of technical artefacts. Share knowledge with peers to contribute to the skills growth of knowledge within Nationwide’s Engineering COE.
Lead and influence architectural design decisions of network solutions, features and fixes, ensuring robust connectivity between on-premise and within cloud environments. Oversee DNS configurations and VPN connectivity, ensuring secure and reliable network access. Proactively troubleshoot network issues and provide effective solutions. Must be able to diagnose problems across the network stack and collaborate on resolution.
Collaborate with architecture, security, engineering teams and the wider Engineering Centre of Excellence to ensure seamless integration of network solutions within our infrastructure.
- Skilled Cloud Networking Engineers that can demonstrate hands-on or Non-Cloud transferable experience to support our 4c’s (Cloud, Containerisation, Coding, CI/CD).
- Experienced designing and implementing Cloud platforms (AWS) for elasticity and scalability.
- Infrastructure as code and post deployment configuration management knowledge using tools such as Terraform, Ansible.
- Skilled automating the deployment and monitoring of services in Public Cloud.
- Strong experience in network engineering, with hands-on experience in routing, firewalls, DNS and VPNs.
- Proficiency in analysing network traffic and developing security policies.
- Expertise in ensuring efficient data flow and resolving routing issues.
- Familiarity with cloud networking, particularly AWS (VPC's/Security Groups/NACLs/AWS Network Firewall), and hybrid environments is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex network issues and implement effective solutions.
