Mechanical Technician – Waste to Energy

The company is at the forefront of waste management and resource recovery in the UK, operating the largest network of Energy Recovery Facilities (ERFs). We play a crucial role in supporting the UK\’s climate goals by diverting waste from landfills and transforming it into valuable energy resources.
We have an opportunity in Croydon at our ERF site Beddington for a Mechanical Technician to join our team working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
As Mechanical Technician, you will support the optimal long-term availability of the plant, preserving the value of the assets and helping to ensure financial targets are met within the mechanical maintenance department.
You will ensure a no compromise approach to health and safety is embraced.
Responsible for carrying out planned and unplanned maintenance activities to ensure safe and efficient operation of the ERF plant.
Ensure maintenance targets and plans are achieved safely, economically and within the environmental limits of the plant.
Assist with supervision of contractors, working alongside other functions as necessary.
Use initiative and be pro-active and creative in problem solving.
Conduct plant inspections and area safety inspections.
Ensure that all reporting within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is effective and completed promptly.
Ensure that all activities within the ERF plant are carried out in a safe manner, in line with the site\’s procedures.
Carry out risk assessments to ensure activities are completed in a safe manner
Exposure to having carried out planned and unplanned maintenance activities
A demonstrable track record in ensuring maintenance plans and targets are achieved safely, economically and within the environmental limits of the plant
Knowledge of repair methods of mechanical machinery and material within a heavy process or plant industry
Experience in working within Permit to Work and Safe System of Work environments i.e. plant isolations and safety systems
Experience in working with Preventative Maintenance Systems and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems
Exposure to an energy from waste (EfW) facility/power stations and knowledge of the process would be advantageous and preferred
Experience in mechanical engineering of process industry, or power plants.
Experience working with Maintenance Management Systems.
Experience working with Safe Systems of Work (PTW) (training will be

Full UK driving licence.
