Our Head Office is based in Peterhead in the North-East of Scotland, and our second site based in Uddingston in the outskirts of Glasgow. The Production Manager is responsible for aiding the Factory Manager with the running of the factory. They will also play a key role with regards to the management and training of staff.
- Manage the day-to-day production of products and ensure production targets are met.
- Monitor product standards and have a sound knowledge of the quality control programmes implemented.
- Work in collaboration with the Engineering department to ensure that there is maximum production uptime and that any downtime is managed effectively.
- Identify ways in which any unmet production targets can be achieved.
- Liaise and co-operate with the technical and commercial teams to ensure that customers are supplied with food products which are safe to eat, that the quality complies with the customer specifications, that they meet current legislation standards, and that they are produced under methods of Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Ensure the factory is audit ready at all times and that good manufacturing practices are always implemented.
- This includes identifying and efficiently resourcing the factory; managing absences and performance; liaising with HR on a regular basis regarding staffing issues and seeking assistance/support from them as required.
- Identify the training needs of factory operatives and supervisors and liaise with the training department to ensure appropriate action is taken to have these training needs met.
- Ensure that health and safety guidelines are followed at all times by everyone on the factory floor and in the surrounding areas. Report any incidents or accidents immediately following the correct process.
- Support Company policies, ensuring that procedures are followed and that all members of staff adhere to the policies at all times.
- Undertake additional work as required by the Factory Manager, other Senior Manager or Company Director.
- Ability to be flexible to meet business needs.
Proficient in English (literacy and numeracy). Previous experience working in a production manager role or experience managing staff is essential. Previous experience of working in the food industry is preferred. Knowledge of food legislation standards. Food Hygiene Certificate is desirable.
