Human Resources Advisor Cammell Laird We have created a new role in our small, growing HR Team. Its a fast paced generalist role where no 2 days will be the same, a great opportunity for you to make a significant impact on the facility, where your efforts will be visible. If you thrive working in employee relations and are up to date with employment law to support your managers with their teams managing operational and business related people issues this might be for you. So who are we? Known across the globe at our Birkenhead facility, on the banks of the River Mersey we expand across 130 acres which includes four dry docks, a large modular construction hall and extensive covered workshops. Weve played a strategic role in UK shipbuilding for the past 200 years, repairing, maintaining and building ships and other vessels. And what will you do? As part of a proactive, innovative and responsive team youll deliver a professional, advisory service to operational and business support departments building relationships with managers and developing a good understanding of their work Youll offer pragmatic, creative and business focused HR solutions and recommendations at all levels from working with external authorities and contacts through all levels of employee up to Director level Building and developing relationships at all levels, you will provide support and guidance on a range of HR matters and share best practice You will have full case management / ownership for HR issues and will manage high levels of complex investigations, disciplinary and grievance Providing advice and guidance on a high volume of employee relation cases, you will make sure that they are well managed and meet the requirements of internal policies, best practice and employment legislation Youll manage long term absence cases, including occupational health and medical referrals as well as ensure effective monitoring of sickness trends and remedial action, taking a proactive approach to absence management, to ensure a smooth return to work. Part of an efficient, effective and customer focused HR service, you will also support all aspects of an employees relationship and engagement within the business including recruitment, terms and conditions of employment, training and development activities, ensuring compliance with employment legislation and business policies. And what we looking for? CIPD Level 5 Human Resources Certificate HR generalist background, fully conversant with all aspects of employment law and HR best practice Experience working closely with Trade Unions Ability to communicate at all levels of the business and motivated to improve existing working practices A self-starter, using own initiative and ability to work with minimum supervision, able to prioritise and work within timescales with a methodical approach to planning and organising workload Excellent attention to detail and a high level of IT and reporting skills A full UK Driving Licence will be useful due to the size of the facility Due to the nature of what we do for some of the customers that we work with, some roles working for Cammell Laird are subject to security control restrictions. These restrictions mean that factors including your nationality, any previous nationalities you have held, and your place of birth may limit those roles you can perform with us.
