Our client in the oil and gas sector is seeking a skilled Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician on a contract basis (Outside IR35). This role is vital to the maintenance and operation of all electrical and instrumentation equipment at their sites, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
Job Purpose: To complete principal deliverables relating to maintenance and operation of all electrical and instrumentation equipment as defined by the Asset Manager and/or Maintenance Manager, in order to allow safe and efficient operation of sites.
Principal Deliverables:
- Complete outstanding instrumentation Planned Workorders, prioritising highest priority Workorders, completing any associated first line repairs, and recording all activities in the Company Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Complete scheduled Planned Workorders to allow staff technicians to focus on outstanding Corrective Workorders and priority repairs.
- Perform instrumentation and electrical activities during the Company annual Shutdown, as outlined within the company 2021 Shutdown Plan.
- Complete CompEx inspections in line with the company inspection schedule, completing any associated first line repairs.
- Carry out general housekeeping to maintain facilities clean, tidy, and free of preventable hazards.
Job Requirements:
- Maintenance experience on equipment related to the installed instrument and/or electrical equipment.
- Possess instrument qualification (apprenticeship or NVQ level 3) with good working knowledge in electrical systems.
- Experience in calibration of instrumentation, including principles behind 'As Found' and 'As Left' and various measurement technologies.
- Experience in carrying out fire and gas testing, with basic knowledge of how different systems work.
- Experience in functional testing of ESD, Control, Level, Pressure, and HV valves, understanding the importance of recording closure times and any faults.
- Knowledge of current European Wiring Regulations BS7671, different earthing systems (e.g., TT, TN-S, TN-C-S), and Single and Three-phase systems and their connection methods.
- Conversant in IEC 60079 and hold in-date CompEx 01-04 certification.
- An understanding of the workings of the oil and gas industry, with previous experience in hazardous areas, preferably within this industry.
