Our client is a reputable environmental and waste management business located in Cheshire. The company operates a permitted Hazardous Waste Transfer Station and supports a wide range of clients in the safe and environmentally responsible disposal of hazardous waste.
An exciting opportunity currently exists within the team for a Mobile Chemist. In this role you will travel to customers' sites and pack material, making sure it is suitable for transportation.
Main Tasks and Accountabilities:
- Conduct waste audits on customers' sites, listing waste and detailing any packing / re-packing required.
- Provide a typed list of waste streams to the sales department for quoting as required.
- Generate risk assessment for subsequent onsite work.
- Travel to customer sites with packing materials and equipment.
- List, pack and label customers' waste ready for transportation, re-drumming or over drumming unfit packages as necessary. Ensure only chemically compatible materials are packed together. Provide content lists of all containers and a legislatively compliant load list suitable for onward transportation.
- Transport waste to suitably licenced facilities as directed.
- Act as a Site Chemist when required.
Candidate Requirements:
- Degree qualified in Chemistry (or closely related scientific subject).
- Valid UK driving licence.
- ADR licence (or willing to obtain one).
- IOSH managing safely or similar.
- Previous hazardous waste management experience.
- Ideally have an awareness of: HSG 71 - Chemical warehousing, HSG 51 - Storage of flammable liquids in container, Sector Guidance Note S5.06 Guidance for the Recovery and Disposal of Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Waste, Guidance on the classification and assessment of waste Technical Guidance WM3 Waste Classification.
