Our client is an investment firm specialising in the Energy Transition. They have successfully deployed billions into innovative clean energy investments and developed large-scale carbon projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and drive community development. As part of their carbon business, they partner with thousands of smallholder farmers to produce shade-grown Arabica coffee while simultaneously sequestering carbon. They are currently building and scaling their physical coffee business, focusing on selling green (and roasted) coffee beans directly into international markets, which generates higher incomes for their farmer base. Their global team of over 100 people is headquartered in London, India, and Sri Lanka.

Our client is looking for an experienced and dynamic coffee marketer to lead their global coffee marketing efforts. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and executing an end-to-end route-to-market strategy for the specialty Arabica coffee procured by the organisation. The role involves building commercial strategies and cultivating strong relationships with importers, roasters, and retailers across international markets.

Main responsibilities:
  • Lead the end-to-end route-to-market strategy for Arabica coffee, ensuring competitive pricing and market positioning.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies tailored for diverse international markets.
  • Identify, cultivate, and manage relationships with key buyers globally, including importers, roasters, and retailers.
  • Negotiate and manage coffee sale contracts, overseeing all logistical aspects from negotiation to delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with internal project teams to optimize sourcing and plan efficient delivery timelines.
Ideal experience:
  • Minimum of four years of proven track record in coffee marketing, with a strong preference for experience in India and South Asia.
  • Demonstrated track record in building and managing successful commercial relationships within the coffee industry.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
  • Familiarity with sustainable coffee practices (single origin, organic, smallholder-produced, etc).
  • Exposure to carbon markets, agroforestry, or impact investing is a distinct advantage.
  • Fluency in English.
