The Trafford and Stockport College Group (TSCG) has an opportunity for an experienced Computing Lecturer to join the Access to Higher Education team to help us achieve our vision of unlocking potential and fostering success.

The Role

Working as part of a well-established and supportive team delivering successful Access to HE provision, you will be responsible for teaching the Access to HE Diploma in Computing and Digital Technology, delivering 13 hours of teaching over 3 days per week from September. You will deliver a range of units designed to prepare adult learners for undergraduate study in Computing, including:

  • Event Driven Programming
  • ICT Systems Lifecycle
  • Database Principles & Design
  • Principles of Computer Programming
  • Computer Systems Architecture
  • Structured Programming
  • Programming Using Objects
  • Website Design & Development
  • Developing Spreadsheet Applications
  • Communities and Sharing on the Web

You will also teach Mathematics for Computing, covering:

  • Number Systems and Data Representation
  • Matrices
  • Coordinate Geometry
  • Algorithms, Pseudocode & Trace Tables
  • Computer Logic

As part of your role, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality, learner-focused education that supports student success.
  • Develop and implement engaging teaching and learning strategies.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement.
  • Work flexibly and collaboratively within the department and across the Group.

About You

You will be a qualified Computing professional with the subject knowledge and confidence to deliver a broad range of computing and digital technology units, as well as foundational mathematics relevant to computing. Essential attributes include:

  • A relevant qualification in Computing or a related field.
  • The ability to teach both technical computing and mathematical concepts.
  • A commitment to inclusive, high-quality education.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A proactive, resilient, and student-focused approach.
  • A willingness to travel between sites if required.
  • A clear understanding of and commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.

  • Experience delivering Access to HE or similar adult education programmes.
  • Familiarity with curriculum development and assessment strategies in further education.
