Head of Software Engineering – Hybrid/London – up to £160k + 20% bonus
Are you ready to lead, innovate, and shape the future of the sports betting industry?
Our client is looking for a Head of Product Engineering to oversee and manage a portfolio of products at the heart of the Betting Platform. You will be a key member of our leadership team, guiding multiple Product Development teams (around 40 people spread across 6 teams and 6 Software Engineering Managers) collaborating across offices in the UK, Spain, and Sweden, ensuring our platform remains a leader in the industry.
What you will be doing:
- Develop and execute a product portfolio strategy that aligns with business objectives.
- Lead and mentor Product Managers, Software Engineering Managers, and Architects to deliver on ambitious goals.
- Oversee the full product lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality software solutions.
- Drive product strategy, innovation, and alignment with market trends and customer needs.
- Establish and monitor key performance metrics, driving continuous improvement and efficiency.
- Manage resources effectively, balancing budgets, personnel, and project risks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration across development, marketing, and business units.
- Maintain accountability for the security and quality of released software.
- Act as a thought leader in the gaming industry, staying ahead of trends and technological advancements.
What We’re Looking For:
- 10+ years commercial experience.
- Someone that has come from a development background, preferably with GO but can consider anyone with OOP language.
- Architecture design experience.
- Proven track record of managing large, diverse teams in fast-paced environments.
- Cloud infrastructure experience (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- Experience working with teams that build software that scale quickly with no downtime.
- A deep understanding of scalable systems and application development.
- Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with experience coaching high-performing teams.
- Strong analytical and commercial acumen with an ability to translate business objectives into actionable plans.
- A proactive, curious mindset focused on continuous improvement and innovation.
- Proven ability to manage complex, multi-team environments and resolve challenges effectively.
- Experience in the gaming or sports betting or adjacent domains (high transactional and fast-paced, like Fintech).
