About the role

As part of the Depot Upgrades Programme team, you’ll be at the heart of the EMR Fleet projects driving the development and delivery of these key infrastructure upgrades. The role will be an essential part of bringing about multi-million pound meaningful change within the EMR depot estate, including but not limited to expansion of depots, safety systems and heavy maintenance facilities.

You’ll bring your technical expertise, working collaboratively to engage a wide variety of internal and 3^rd party stakeholders to support projects from planning stage all the way through to on-site delivery, being the key focal point all technical queries. This role would require you to work on site 2-3 days per week.

This role is on a Fixed Term Contract till end March 2026.

Key responsibilities include:

o Acting as the technical subject matter expert on infrastructure upgrades change projects

o Developing technical specification documents to capture technical and end user requirements

o Supporting project teams with creation and maintenance of project plans, business cases, budgets, reports, presentations and other documentation

o Ensuring infrastructure upgrades on depot are thoroughly planned, robustly managed and implemented in line with safety, compliance and business/contract management processes

o Acting as main contact for Network Rail, including design review, approval, and completion of Landlords Consent applications

o Working closely with the Project Manager to identify and mitigate emerging technical risks and support contingency allocation

o Challenging cost and scope changes from the supplier as required to achieve the desired time, cost, and quality of the projects.

o Delivering infrastructure upgrades into service to agreed standards, ensuring successful handover to BAU and support to facilitate ongoing asset management

o A great all-round communicator

o Highly collaborative, able to engage and build positive working relationships with diverse internal and 3^rd party stakeholders

o Proven ability to manage the technical & constructability development of the assigned projects, working in collaboration with the project and stakeholders. Maintaining a high standard of technical compliance of scope and project specific documentation. Experience of NEC4 ECC

o Experienced of acting as CRE/CEM roles.

o Solutions-driven and innovative

o Adaptable, can work alone and as part of a project team to deliver successful outcomes

o Educated to degree level in Engineering and/or have equivalent experience in Civils/M & E

You’ll have experience managing major Civils and M & E schemes, including site and construction management and installation of mechanical and electrical plant and equipment, ideally in an Operational Railway Depot environment and you’ll have supporting knowledge of the electrical plant, equipment and systems typically used in rail.

Knowledge of Network Rail Standards and Regulations and CDM 2015 regulations is also essential to the role, along with an understanding of COSS / SWL role. PTS competency would be advantageous, though we can support certification if required.
