This is a key role for overseeing all procurement related activity, working closely with suppliers, manufacturers and internal departments to ensure timely and cost effective procurement of materials and services. It is essential to have supply chain experience and drive through continuous improvement and SQCDP measures.
Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing and managing the company's overall purchasing strategy and operations to maximise purchase/cost performance and optimisation.
- Reducing vendor related issues, lead times and overall inventory.
- Improving team efficiency, team engagement and performance.
- Qualifying and evaluating vendors.
- Implementing agile supply chain practices.
- Improving contract review and planning process.
- Enhancing the skills and performance of the purchasing team through training and coaching.
- Conducting structured morning meetings and daily communication.
- Driving continuous improvements within the area through SQCDP measures.
Experience required:
- Detail oriented professional with robust leadership skills and an in-depth understanding of supply chain processes.
- Previous experience of developing and implementing procurement practices and systems that work.
- Managerial experience.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and analytically minded.
- The ability to lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals.
- Experience within supply chain, purchasing and procurement.
Skills and qualifications:
- Master's degree in supply chain management, business administration or related field.
- Knowledge of industry specific regulations and compliance requirements.
- Relevant certification in procurement or supply chain management.
- Proficiency in using procurement software and systems.
- Knowledge of vendor management and inventory management systems.
- Experience of implementing sustainable and socially responsible procurement practices.
- Strong skills in budgeting, cost optimisation and negotiation techniques.

Permanent position, £55k to £60k per annum (depending on experience) with a full benefits package included. Based in the Cannock area. Days Monday to Friday (early finish on Friday). Experience within supply chain, purchasing and procurement ideally with 5 years + in Purchase Management experience.
