A leading national contractor is delivering a major MEP package under the HMG Future Hospital scheme and is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. This is an exciting opportunity to support a £45m+ healthcare infrastructure project, initially reporting from the Exeter office before relocating to the Plymouth site for the construction phase. This role offers strong career progression, exposure to high-profile healthcare work, and the chance to be part of a supportive, commercially focused team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full commercial lifecycle of a £45m+ MEP package, from preconstruction through to final account.
  • Ensure timely preparation and agreement of payment applications, valuations, and invoices to maintain cash flow.
  • Identify, price, and agree variations, loss and expense entitlements in line with contract terms.
  • Lead cost reporting, CVRs, and forecasting activities with clarity and accuracy.
  • Coordinate subcontractor procurement, tender reviews, and appointment documentation.
  • Track subcontractor accounts, manage changes, and maintain accurate cost schedules.
  • Drive project governance, commercial risk management, and adherence to internal systems and controls.
  • Interface with project stakeholders including operations, finance, and supply chain.
  • Mentor junior commercial staff and contribute to continuous process improvement.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in both main contractor and subcontractor environments.
  • Strong understanding of NEC, GC/Works/1 and other standard form contracts.
  • Prior experience on MEP or healthcare projects preferred.
  • Skilled in contract variation tracking, claims preparation, and cost control.
  • Excellent attention to detail, commercial acumen, and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in advanced IT and reporting systems.
