West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust are looking for a Deputy Chief People Officer to join the team.
West Hertfordshire has published a new 5-year strategy that will focus on patient care, developing our hospitals, achieving financial stability, embracing diversity and designing services with our local partners.
As part of the new hospital programme, we will see construction of a new hospital at Watford and significant redevelopment of our other sites.
The Trust has won a range of awards, and has delivered innovative services including our pioneering work on the “virtual Hospital”. How we retain, support and develop our workforce is pivotal to the success of all these amazing programmes.
Main duties of the job
As Deputy CPO, you will be at the forefront of supporting and leading a brilliant team of experts and influencers. This is an exciting opportunity and time to join an established HR function, committed to moving the service forward to support the ever-evolving NHS landscape.
- Be a key member of the senior Trust and HR leadership team, and be instrumental in the development and the deployment of the Trust’s and the ICS people strategies.
- Responsible for ensuring the delivery of the highest quality human resources services and support, and day to day operational matters, providing regular input to business decisions.
- Lead a diverse and inclusive service that understands, develops, and embeds the culture of the Trust and the Trust values.
- Evaluate the delivery of a robust HR interventions and programmes that continuously improve organisational performance and transformation using leading edge and evidence-based HR.
- Deputise for the Chief People Officer as required.
- Promote the values, behaviours, vision, and goals of the organisation.
Key criteria:
- Significant experience of senior complex leadership in Human Resources practice at management level in an acute NHS sector.
- Expert knowledge of NHS terms and conditions and best practice approaches.
- Complex performance reporting to Board and Committee level.
- Experience of leading and managing multi-disciplinary HR/OD services and teams.
- CIPD Graduate Membership.
