A sector leading manufacturer of complex precision components supplied to the aerospace, defence and energy sectors has a new vacancy for a Senior Mechanical Engineer. You will be responsible for improving manufacturing processes through the design and introduction of new equipment into production.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the business on engineering issues and problem solving activities.
- Create CAD models and assemblies with detailed 2D drawings to provide information on manufacturing/assembly requirements.
- Assist with the preparation of project scope and agree appropriate technical specifications.
- Test prototypes with team and recommend improvement where necessary.
- Create test criteria and organise functionality testing to ensure the machine/equipment reliability performance as requested.
- Work with Quality team, production and support functions on test requirements for new equipment.
- Obtain quotes and provide cost calculations on machines and tooling using cost calculation sheet provided.
- Keep stakeholders regularly updated on project progress.
The Person
- A degree or equivalent in an Engineering related discipline.
- Experience with implementing new processes into production.
- Knowledge of complex jigs & fixtures and machinery design.
- Previous experience working in a highly complex and regulated environment.
- Understanding of the theory and application to conducting complex analysis with FEA.
- A strong understanding of materials and manufacturing methods.
