The Role
The Financial Controller will take a leading role in overseeing all financial operations at the Bristol clinic, ensuring robust financial management, strategic planning, and compliance. Acting as a key business partner to the General Manager, this role is responsible for delivering high-quality financial insight, driving performance, and supporting the clinic's long-term growth and operational success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of financial management for the clinic, including financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Provide strategic financial guidance and analysis to the General Manager and senior leadership team, supporting decision-making and business planning.
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and insightful commentary.
- Develop and maintain strong financial controls, processes, and risk management frameworks to safeguard clinic assets and ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.
- Monitor and analyse clinic performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities, and proactively recommending actions to drive profitability and efficiency.
- Manage cash flow, working capital, and cost control initiatives to support the clinic's operational and strategic objectives.
- Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and ensuring all statutory and regulatory requirements are met.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns and other statutory filings as required.
- Mentor and develop the clinic's finance team, promoting a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Act as the primary finance point of contact for the General Manager and other operational leaders, translating financial information into actionable business insights.
- Lead or support finance-related projects and initiatives, including system improvements, business case development, and process optimisation.
About You
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience in a senior finance role.
- Demonstrated experience in financial leadership, ideally within a clinical, healthcare, or multi-site environment.
- Advanced technical knowledge of accounting standards, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders and influence senior management.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial systems (such as Sage, SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Experience managing and developing finance teams.
- Commercially astute with a proactive, hands-on approach to supporting business operations.
