Buckingham Futures are currently seeking a Building Control Surveyor for our client in Essex. Initially on a 3 month ongoing contract. You will be required on-site 2-3 days PW.
The Role: The purpose of this role is to enforce the Building Regulations within the District, meeting the Councils statutory obligations under Section 91 of the Building Act 1984 and Building Safety Act 2022. This role is also responsible for the operation of building control to achieve its effective and efficient operation in accordance with the Councils policies and their relevant priorities.
Accountabilities:
- Carry out agreed procedures to provide effective and efficient building control services.
- Examination of plans and other associated matters for compliance with Building Regulations and associated legislation.
- Liaise with applicants, agents, consultants or statutory bodies and members of the public.
- Carry out site inspections and testing of building works for compliance with building regulations and associated legislations.
- Carry out all normal measures and as directed, any further action to ensure enforcement of building regulations and associated legislation.
- Deal with applications for relaxation and dispensation.
- Promote and market the Building Control Service at a local level.
- Attend any committees or working groups of the Council as may be required.
Requirements:
- Building experience in a practical, technical or professional capacity. Must be RBI accredited Class 2 A or above.
- Knowledge of building construction, building regulations and associated legislation.
- Able to undertake the principal accountabilities flexibly, including working evenings and weekends as required.
- Detailed and efficient record keeping.
- Ability to write and present reports and write clear and concise letters on complex issues.
