Our client is looking for an experienced Associate Director to join our leadership team and help shape the future of our public affairs and communications practice. This is a senior role for someone who thrives on advising clients at the highest level, developing sharp political strategies, and leading a team of consultants to deliver work that makes an impact.

You will work across a dynamic portfolio of clients β€” from major corporates to fast-growing disruptors β€” helping them navigate the political landscape, manage reputations, and build influence with key stakeholders. You’ll also play a central role in business growth and agency leadership.

  • Lead client strategy: Develop bold, creative public affairs and communications strategies that drive results and support clients through political and reputational challenges.
  • Advise at the top table: Build trusted relationships with senior clients, providing counsel on government affairs, media engagement, and the broader political and regulatory context.
  • Grow and guide the team: Lead, inspire and mentor a talented group of consultants, ensuring a culture of excellence and professional development.
  • Build influence: Leverage your relationships across government, parliament, business and media to shape the debate and open doors for clients.
  • Deliver standout content: Oversee the creation of top-quality written materials β€” from messaging and media content to briefings and thought leadership.
  • Drive growth: Identify new opportunities, contribute to winning new business, and help shape the future direction of the agency.

About you

  • Experienced operator: At least 7 years’ experience in public affairs, political consultancy, strategic communications, or a related political/media environment, with a strong track record of success in an agency setting.
  • Political acumen: Deep understanding of the UK political system, parliamentary processes and the media landscape.
  • Exceptional communicator: Outstanding written and verbal skills, with the ability to develop compelling narratives and provide clear, strategic advice under pressure.
  • Team leader: A natural mentor and manager, with experience leading teams and delivering across multiple complex projects.
  • Well connected: A strong network within political, parliamentary and media circles, with a focus on building and maintaining trusted relationships.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: Commercially savvy, proactive, and a track record of business development.
