Our mission is to empower people to make confident decisions. With our unique set of brands, including Uswitch, Confused.com , Tempcover, Money.co.uk , and Mojo, we have the power to reach millions of consumers and the technology to deliver a world-class online experience for them.
About the role:
We’re looking for an experienced Legal Counsel to join our London office here at RVU, working closely with our household-name brands including Uswitch, Confused.com, Money.co.uk, Tempcover, and Mojo Mortgages. In this role, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of our business, offering strategic legal guidance, independently navigating complex commercial deals, and driving value across the organisation. Beyond the contracts and negotiations, you’ll contribute to refining the legal frameworks and policies that empower our teams and set us apart from the competition. You’ll also have the opportunity to develop and mentor junior colleagues in the team.
What you’ll be doing
- Drafting, negotiating, and finalising commercial agreements in collaboration with our business teams.
- Acting as a trusted advisor to our commercial teams, building strong partnerships and enabling growth.
- Providing insights on new products and initiatives—no two days are the same!
- Delivering legal guidance and risk assessments on a wide range of issues, including compliance with data protection and e-privacy laws.
- Supporting acquisitions and corporate integration projects.
- Building and managing a framework of policies and best practices to address legal and commercial challenges.
- Contributing to the development and growth of junior team members.
What we’re looking for
Essentials:
- At least 4 years’ post-qualification experience in-house or at a commercial or corporate law firm with experience providing full service commercial legal support (the reference to PQE is a guide only. We welcome applications from candidates with more or less PQE).
- An experience and appreciation of the challenges and requirements of delivering legal support in a fast-moving commercial in-house team.
- Qualified to practice as a solicitor in England and Wales (or another common law jurisdiction).
- Proven technical ability to draft and negotiate complex commercial agreements to tight timescales.
- Experience of advising on IT, data protection/e-privacy laws as well as corporate law.
Desirables:
- Knowledge of intellectual property and competition law.
- Experience of developing and training junior lawyers.
- Regulated sector experience.
- Knowledge of company secretarial matters.
You don’t need to tick off everything on this list – so don’t let that hold you back from applying. We want to make sure you’re learning plenty during your time with us!
What we offer
We want to give you a great work environment, support your growth both personally and professionally, and provide benefits that make your time at RVU even more enjoyable. Here are some of the benefits you can look forward to:
- 10% discretionary yearly bonus and yearly pay reviews (based on RVU and personal performance).
- A hybrid working approach with 2 in-office days per week and up to 22 working days per year to “work from anywhere.”
- Employer matching pension contributions up to 7.5%.
- A one-off £300 “Work from Home” budget to help contribute towards a great work environment at home.
- Excellent maternity, paternity, shared parental, and adoption leave policy, for those key moments in your life.
- 25 days holiday (increasing to 30 days) + 2 days “My Time” per year.
- Private medical cover, critical illness cover, dental plans, and employee assistance programme.
- Employee discounts programme.
- A healthy learning and training budget.
- Electric vehicle and cycle to work schemes.
- Free in-office gym, accessible 7 days a week.
- Free breakfast in the office daily.
- You’ll be equipped with great technology (choice of Mac or Windows).
- Free access to the Calm and Peppy app for physical and mental health.
- Regular events – from team socials to company-wide events with insightful external speakers, we want to make sure our colleagues continue to feel connected.
