Subsea7 are looking for a Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality (HSSEQ) Director to join the UK & Global IRM (UKGIRM) team on a full-time, staff basis, based out of our Westhill, Aberdeen office. As an HSSEQ Director you will be a key member of the UKGIRM Leadership Team, providing leadership on all aspects of regional HSSEQ performance. The position is the global focal point for HSSEQ matters and is primarily focused on maintaining HSSE and Quality performance improvement and promoting a positive HSSEQ culture within the region.
You will provide functional support to the countries within UKGIRM ensuring adequate HSSEQ resources are maintained to comply with regulatory requirements and Group HSSEQ policies, standards, and procedures. Through the provision of leadership, development and coaching the HSSEQ Director will ensure the effective implementation of the Group HSSE and Quality tools and processes across regional operations which underpin the requirements of the Business Management System.
This role will report directly to the UKGIRM Senior Vice President and functionally to the Vice President of Group HSSEQ. It will be a highly varied role but some of the key responsibilities will be:
- Create a strategy for regional Health, Safety, Security, Environment (HSSE), and Quality that is consistent with regional objectives/strategies and group wide targets.
- Support strategy understanding to ensure effective incorporation into country delivery plans and actively monitor progress.
- Support the leadership, management, and functional teams in understanding and implementing the requirements of the HSSEQ Management System.
- Work with country management teams in assigning individuals to local HSSEQ roles and assist with identifying development needs and performance monitoring and management.
- Develop knowledge and resources to support regional HSSEQ initiatives.
- Supervise regional HSSEQ results and direct the formulation and implementation of essential corrective and improvement strategies.
- Oversee allocation for the HSSEQ functional budget and monitor controlling costs.
- Support cross functional and region liaison and work closely with Offshore Delivery for vessel and operational worksite HSSEQ matters.
- Ensure positive relationships are established with key clients, industry partners, and appropriate regulatory and professional bodies on a country basis.
- Develop and maintain an effective level of emergency response management supported by a program of exercises.
- Provide oversight of HSSEQ inputs to high value tenders and strategic projects.
- Conduct thorough investigations of HSSEQ events, including incidents, near misses, non-conformances, internal quality failures and supplier performance concerns, to extract valuable insights and implement necessary measures.
- Work with Group Security team to ensure the security risks of projects and prospective work are adequately understood and managed.
- Support the development of a risk based HSSEQ internal and external audit schedule and oversee delivery to plan.
- Liaise with Supply Chain Management and Engineering on key supplier performance and oversee development of improvement plans as required.
- Support activities including the external audit programme to meet the requirements of the ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 Standards.
- Oversee inputs to Health and Safety, Security, Quality and Environmental Management Reviews, presentation to the Leadership Team and implementation of continuous improvement action as required.
What experience would we like you to have?
- Proven experience in an HSSEQ Management role within a subsea engineering or operations-based organisation, ideally within the energy industry, and with a working knowledge of EPIC and IRM projects and operations.
- Previous experience of supervising and developing a team of HSSEQ professionals across different geographical locations.
- Degree qualified in a relevant discipline or have equivalent experience within HSSEQ.
- Chartered MIOSH or equivalent HSSE or Quality professional qualification.
- Conversant with HSSEQ management systems, legislative framework, audit, incident management, risk management, training, and human performance.
- Qualified and experienced Lead Auditor.
- Proven incident investigation and management experience including training in root cause analysis.
- Capable of establishing HSSEQ strategy that realistically reflects priorities and potential capability.
- A high level of interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively establish relationships and communicate across all levels of stakeholders both internal and external, up to the highest levels.
- Comfortable discussing issues and topics of importance in the correct manner at Senior Management Level.
- An effective leader with a positive approach who can engage a team through coaching and mentoring to continuously develop.
- A broad knowledge of the principle HSSE legislative requirements applicable to the region and advanced understanding of the requirements of the ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 Standards.
- International travel and occasional site visits to onshore and offshore locations regionally with the possibility of short-term stays will be involved in this role.
