HOME BASED with EMEA Travel. Source Solutions are working with a unique, forward thinking and continually-growing organisation, manufacturing highly reliable electronic connectors for harsh and critical environments, to identify an experienced and technically capable Head of Business Development for their EMEA region.

As Head of Business Development, you will line manage numerous Field Sales Managers as well as Applications Engineers, developing revenue across the “design-in” side of the business, working closely with clients on making these components integral to their overall systems. The position is broader than simply driving sales; it also involves wider integration with product management, design and development teams as well as affiliated distribution networks. This is very much a leadership role and requires someone with experience in leading technical sales teams (ideally internationally with a decentralised team spread across a region). Additionally, with responsibility for helping Applications Engineers in the design and development side, strong technical knowledge of electronics and, more specifically some form of connectors is required.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Create revenue budgets and manage overhead budgets
  • Assist the team in filtering opportunities to prioritize those of significant commercial value
  • Grow opportunity pipeline right from lead generation and increase conversion ratio
  • Regular meetings with team members to ensure they have the necessary support
  • Frequently visit key customer locations and distribution branches, both with and without team members
  • Ensure good collaboration with other departments (Product Management, Product Design teams, Marketing, Distribution Management and Customer Service)

Candidate Profile:

  • Demonstrable experience in leading and line managing technical sales staff
  • Knowledge of the connectors market – this can be any form of electronic connector
  • Experience of “design-in” solutions selling
  • Strong technical understanding of connectors or similar electronic components
  • Ideally some form of technical qualification in electronic/mechanical/industrial or other relevant subject
