We are looking for a Harness Build Technician to join our Team. The Candidate must have direct automotive industry experience and understanding of automotive processes. We are looking for a hands-on engineer who will embrace the company's cultural & professional business environment and will work directly with our customers and with the suppliers involved to identify, manage and resolve quality/warranty issues in ongoing vehicle programs.

The responsibilities of this position will include, but not be limited to:

  • Manufacture of automotive electrical harnesses.
  • Build low and high voltage assemblies and enclosures for prototypes.
  • Perform end of line test procedures such as continuity, isolation and resistive tests and reporting.
  • Work with in-house engineering team as required to support design and development.
  • Responsibility also includes support building the test rigs as demanded.

Technical attributes:

  • Minimum 2 years+ automotive engineering experience in the field of automotive electrical wiring build.
  • Good understanding of EDS design, including fusing, grounding and network topologies will be advantageous.
  • Good knowledge of 2D harness drawing requirements.
  • Good understanding of EDS requirements, specifications, and verification/validation methods.
  • Wire wrapping/twisting experience.
  • Moulded Parts and/or System 25 experience would be advantageous.
  • Service loops experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and harness manufacturing drawings.
  • Ability to work to a high level of dimensional accuracy and repeatability.
  • Knowledge of common connector systems, wire types and sleeving.
  • Knowledge of and experience of working to automotive and/or motorsport wiring standards.
  • Experience of working with high voltage cables and connectors.
  • Experience of end-of-line testing (e.g. Cirris) would be an advantage.
  • Support effective root cause analysis and permanent corrective actions are implemented for quality issues.
  • Good working knowledge of all low-voltage electrical systems within a vehicle platform.
  • Making cables.
  • Making basic cuts and holes in aluminium.
  • Routing cables through vehicles.
  • Fitting and repairing measurement equipment harnesses.
  • Installing components into vehicles.
  • Connecting measurement equipment to vehicle power & vehicle networks.
  • Diagnosing and resolving electrical issues.
  • Diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues.
  • Diagnosing and resolving vehicle network issues.
  • Changing ECUs.
  • Configuring software and hardware - following guided instructions.
  • Update software on measurement equipment - following guided instructions.
  • Supporting engineers with rapid prototyping of any modifications required.
