Main duties of the job
The Chief Finance Officer role is integral to our ongoing success and sustainability. As a key member of our Executive leadership team, you will provide strategic financial expertise and operational leadership, ensuring that resources are managed effectively and aligned with our organisational goals. Your ability to navigate the complexities of NHS finance while fostering a culture of accountability and transparency will be critical to delivering high-quality care in an ever-evolving healthcare landscape.
The responsibilities of the role focus on financial planning, procurement, governance, and performance management.
The role is also responsible for the organisation’s group accounting and consolidation of complex and specialist accounting arrangements including overseas operations, foreign joint ventures, UK wholly owned subsidiaries, and joint development vehicles, including other innovative commercial and intellectual property considerations.
As a voting board member, the post holder will be expected to work as part of a cohesive team, contributing to the Trust’s strategic leadership and direction and, where necessary, take the lead for corporate issues outside their immediate sphere of responsibility.

- Fully qualified accountant (CCAB)
- Evidence of continued professional and management development
Knowledge and Experience
- Experience as a Chief Finance Officer or Deputy within a complex organisation
- Track record at board or very senior management level including successful achievement of financial and other performance targets
- Experience of introducing innovative change
Skills and Abilities
- Achievement focused – ability to set targets and get things done to achieve continuous improvement
- Strong business acumen and commercial experience or demonstrable potential
