If you are looking for the next step in your mental health career pathway, our Acute Wards can offer you a great environment that will enable you to develop your leadership as Ward Manager. The opportunity has arisen on Bluebell Ward, an 18-bedded Mental Health In-Patient Ward at Prospect Park Hospital. The Ward has a good core team of experienced staff who actively manage admissions and have a clear, proactive approach to discharge planning and future pathways. The team works cohesively with MDT members to provide safe and compassionate care, as well as collaborating with wider inpatient and community services to ensure a seamless patient journey.

We are seeking a capable, reliable, warm, and dynamic registered healthcare professional with previous Band 7 experience and team management skills. As Ward Manager, you will collaborate closely with the Deputy Service Manager and Inpatient Services Manager to maintain and enhance high standards of patient care, and to support and develop a diverse ward team. We value Ward Managers with excellent communication skills, experience in report writing, and presentation skills to further develop our clinical governance and training initiatives.

  • Have overall responsibility for the efficient management and daily operations of the ward.
  • Provide operational and clinical leadership, working effectively with community teams to ensure clear admission and discharge planning from the outset.
  • Collaborate with the Deputy Service Manager to ensure safe, high-quality care, taking the lead on health & safety and infection prevention and control.
  • Have overall responsibility for line management of the ward staff.
  • Act as an effective role model and leader, providing direct clinical care and advice, while ensuring optimal use of non-clinical time.
  • Manage resources within the allocated budget.
  • Promote initiatives for developing nursing practice, skills, role redesign, and advanced clinical practice development.
