Product Engineering is responsible for Disney Entertainment & ESPN digital and streaming products and platforms, including product engineering, media engineering, quality assurance, personalization, commerce, lifecycle, and identity.

Job Summary:

We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer for our Android team. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, collaborative, and technically skilled, with the ability to coordinate across teams and foster excellence. Your work will impact millions of global consumers, their experience, and our business.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the specification and design of Disney Markup Language (DML) in collaboration with other engineers.
  • Design, implement, and test features to expand Renderer capabilities based on DML.
  • Support integration of the Renderer component with Client engineers across Disney’s streaming brands.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in front-end application development, proficient in Kotlin with low memory footprint solutions.
  • Leadership skills, problem-solving ability, eagerness to learn and teach new technologies.
  • Experience creating consumer-facing interactive experiences.
  • Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms).
  • Extensive experience with Android development ecosystem.
  • Experience developing sophisticated user interfaces.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with interactive experiences in video playback.
  • Experience with renderer technologies.
  • Familiarity with development tools like GitHub, Confluence, JIRA, MS Teams.
  • Experience with web-service-backed applications.
  • International product experience.
  • Strong Scrum methodology experience.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.

The salary range varies by location, with additional benefits such as bonuses, incentives, and comprehensive benefits packages. Actual offers depend on internal equity, geographic region, skills, and experience.
