At Forter, we’re combining our market-leading fraud detection capabilities with deep business insights and cutting-edge technology to build an innovative suite of payment products. This is an opportunity to join a pivotal new initiative and make a lasting impact on a foundational stage of our business.

We’re looking for an experienced software engineer who can do more than just write great code.
In this role, you’ll help establish the foundation of our engineering efforts, shaping both the technical direction and the culture of the team. You’ll mentor and guide less experienced team members, fostering collaboration and encouraging ownership, while driving forward key projects with an unwavering focus on quality.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring that our systems are not just functional, but highly scalable, reliable, and maintainable. You understand the importance of best practices, even under tight deadlines, and you’re deeply committed to building products that uphold availability and performance. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on solving complex, business-critical problems and is excited about shaping a product, culture, and team from the ground up.

Why should you join us?

You’ll get to take part in building a new line of payments products that heavily impact and disrupt the payments space. You’ll get to work with smart, experienced engineers building multi-layered products while gaining deep understanding of the “behind-the-scenes” of the world’s web payments infrastructures.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Build our payments optimization offering, diving deep into the “behind the scenes” of the world’s payments infrastructure.
  • Bring your own unique experience – we are open to new concepts and ideas. You will help us redesign processes and architectural concepts and help bring the team and the systems to a new level.
  • Develop a set of new, unique products as part of Payments initiative while working closely with teammates and multiple other stakeholders at Forter.
  • Work with a variety of programming languages and platforms.
  • Mentor and guide software engineers and help build a professional and effective team.

Who are you?:

  • At least 5 years of diverse experience writing and maintaining complex software systems.
  • At least 5 years of back-end development experience.
  • Experience working in high-scale, highly available systems.
  • Tech-Savvy Learner: Open to learning and working with new technologies (RUST, Go, etc…).
  • Responsible and Independent: Self-reliant, taking full ownership of your work, including areas typically covered by QA and DevOps.
  • Passionate about making systems and people better.
  • Product, Production and Growth mindsets.
  • Enthusiasm for providing technical solutions that bring immediate impact.
  • Strong communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills.
  • A can-do approach and a positive attitude!
  • Professional-level spoken and written English proficiency.
